about dayspring

Welcome to Dayspring.

Welcome to the Dayspring Academy website. We hope that you will find all the information you
need about our school and its workings.

Dayspring Academy was opened in May 2019 by Kitwe’s District Commissioner. Since then it has
grown almost daily. Since the beginning of the 2020 academic year our roll has stood at 166 pupils aged 2 years to 10 years. They are in classes ranging from Baby Class to Grade 5.

Our vision is very simple. We wish to provide an excellent education for our children at the same
time as developing them into young people with integrity. Our motto captures this vision:
‘Developing Tomorrow’s Leaders.’

The academy is a Christian school with some very distinctive features:

  • Mathematics and English are taught according to the UK curriculum, using UK resources and,
where possible, UK teachers team-teaching alongside their Zambian colleagues.
  • The Headteacher is a recently-retired UK Headteacher with many years of leadership
    experience.
  • Class sizes in the Primary school will be no greater than 25 pupils. (Group sizes in the Pre-
    school are considerably smaller.)
  • Our facilities (some of which are still being developed) will soon be second to none.
  • Our fees are set at a very reasonable rate as we are a non-profit making organisation.

The academy is part of Dayspring Ministries, an established, evangelical church which is located on
the same plot as the school. The church’s social programme (Street Life) sponsors some 300 children
in education across the city. Some of these children attend Dayspring Academy.

The academy is overseen by a group of highly qualified directors employed in a range of professional
capacities.

The Directors are chaired by (Rev) Dr. Mwila who also leads Dayspring Ministries.

Please feel free to visit us on 12th Avenue, Nkana West. We guarantee a warm welcome!
